Like any artform, music is not a competition. There is only good and bad music and that categorisation in itself is all down to subjective taste. However, in a bid for scientific rigour; some quantitative analysis to fortify the qualitative spiels, we’ve asked all the Thrash Hits contributors to list their favourite albums of 2013. Yeah, it’s here to boost our egos by claiming what we say is best and it’ll surely get some good clicks and you may (rightly) point out that it’s just another list but, at the very least, you might see an album that you’ve never heard of and think about buying it. That would be cool.

Thrash Hits’ Favourite Gigs of 2013
December 12th, 2013
Part and parcel of being opinionated music lovers is that we go and experience lots of music in its natural habitat – on a stage – and then we decide how good it was. Some spectacles are so powerful that they evoke emotions strong enough to form memories through the drunkenness. It’s a rarity but that’s why some here have to name several before deciding upon their Favourite Gig of 2013. There is zero reason for you to be reading this but if you’ve read this far, you’ll get at least halfway down before clicking the cross.
Thrash Hits Writers’ Top Albums of 2013
December 11th, 2013
As much as it’s The Right Thing to say that music isn’t a competition, it’s also fair and correct to point out that music is not your children. You’re allowed to have a favourite and you usually do. That’s why we like to focus on our favourites. here are some brief explanations as to why our contributors’ favourite albums are their favourite albums.
Of course, all of these favourite albums were compiled and democratised into an overall Thrash Hits Album of 2013. If you’d like to read TH Editors, Raziq Rauf and Hugh Platt‘s Top 3 albums of 2013, you should click here. They’re special and one of them is writing about himself in third person right now.
Thrash Hits Editors’ Albums of 2013 – Raziq Rauf + Hugh Platt
December 11th, 2013
Due to the fact Raz and Hugh run things at Thrash Hits, their opinions are the most important. Yes there’s an overall TH Top 20 Albums of 2013 and there’s a list of the individual contributors’ favourite albums, but their opinions are also the most correct. That’s why they’ve got their own post where they can explain their own favourite albums of 2013 without being sullied by democracy.
Reading Festival 2013 in review (+ some photos)
August 28th, 2013
Reading Festival is a great festival. We go every year. We get drunk and we see as many bands as is feasibly, possibly doable. Occasionally, we remain lucid enough to actually take note of what’s going on around us and it’s at those moments that we made mental notes that we forget.
Anyhow, here are some things that happened that we’re going to talk about. Some of it is directly about bands but some of it might seem like constructive criticism that we should probably send straight to the promoter for him to ignore completely. We prefer it when you ignore us completely, so here goes.
Top 6 bands you have to see at Reading & Leeds Festival 2013
August 21st, 2013
There are well over 250 bands performing over the August Bank Holiday weekend in both Reading and Leeds with dozens of comedians and DJs on top. That’s a lot of stuff to see and if you’re going to either site, you’ve only got a limited amount of time to see a maximum of ten or so bands per day. To help you out, here are a few Thrash Hits tips. Thrash Tips? Sorry.

Download Festival 2012: Biffy Clyro @ Main Stage – Saturday, 09 June 2012
June 10th, 2012
We know someone who flew all the way from the USA to watch Biffy Clyro sub-headline the Main Stage on the Saturday Night at Download Festival 2012. That’s the kind of dedication this band inspires. That’s the kind of band Biffy Clyro are.
