BEST-OF-2013-NEWS

We spell it out clear as day in our ‘About’ page – Thrash Hits is not a new blog. It’s the very first sentence in our ‘About’ page. If we wanted to just regurgitate the hundreds of meaningless press releases that arrive in our inboxes every day, we’d go work for one of those other, nowhere-near-as-good-as-Thrash-Hits websites. You really want another site where you can read the same story over and over again, with nothing new added to it other than just a slightly-differemt-flavour of snark?

So yeah, we might not be a news site, but we still post news stories every now and again. Sometimes it’s because a news story is too big to ignore, sometimes it’s because we’ve gone and done some actual journalism and discovered something all on our own. Sometimes it’s just that we found something we really liked and wanted more of you to know about it. Here are six of our most-viewed from 2013*.

Despite still appearing on the t-shirts of many people who don’t actually own a Nirvana album, not everybody loves them.

Kurt Cobain Jawbreaker Thrash Hits

Cobain is not really that divisive a character, but who better to ask for an opinion on a rock star than Gavin “I ♥ Ronnie Radke” Lloyd? Nobody – once you read this, you will agree – but if you are a fan of Gavin’s last article, this one might surprise you somewhat…

Black Veil Brides are a band everyone has an opinion on, and those with an opinion are rarely shy about voicing it. While there are those that vehemently despise the makeup clad mob, they also have a fiercely passionate army of followers. They have been rapidly growing in popularity for a few years now and new album Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones sees the band clearly set on making that leap to mainstream success and subsequent world domination.

A long, long, long time ago, we solicited our readers with the opportunity to submit questions that we’d ask Black Veil Brides the next time we interviewed them. And what with Black Veil Brides being…errr….somewhat enthusiastic regarding their favourite band, we got rather a lot of questions – more than we had time to ask them in fact. So far, so good, right?

Well, it would be, had we not rather foolishly ended up filming the interview in a darkened backstage dressing room, with a camera that is about as much use in dealing with low-light conditions as a paper hat is at dealing with a monsoon.
