Suicide Silence 2014 promo photo B Thrash Hits

We know Impericon Festival 2015 isn’t taking place in the UK until 04 May, but we’ve got a complete festival line-up now and goddamnit that’s more than enough of an excuse for us to make a Sunday Spotify Slaylist about it.

Let’s get one thing straight: metal is silly. Come on, it is. Right now, bickering online over the best Pig Destroyer album or what brand of face paint makes the best corpse paint might seem very important, but in time all you greebos will look back at yourselves and laugh at how ridiculous it all is. Well, I hope so anyway.

Impericon Never Say Die! 2013 Thrash Hits

You know what’s kicking off tonight? The Impericon Never Say Die! Tour 2013. How do you say that out loud when it’s got an exclamation mark in the middle? Do you have to shout it out loud, and then say they “tour 2013” bit in your normal voice? That’s how we do it when we read it in our internal monologue.

Whatever. Come listen to our Sunday Spotify Slaylist of this year’s tour line-up.

Gone But Not Forgotten 2012 Thrash Hits

With the year beginning to draw to a close, and with only a bare handful os Sundays left for 2012 Slaylists, this week we’re turning out attention to those we’ve lost in 2012. We’re talking about the bands that have either broken up or gone on hiatus, as well as the more serious subject of musicians who sadly died at some point over the last 12 months.

We’re keeping things nice and simple for this week’s Slaylist. This evening, the 2012 incarnation of Bonecrusher Festival has rolled into town, and we’re heading down to the Camden Underworld to check it out. What better way to get us in the mood than with a Slaylist of all the band’s taking part this year?

Dying Fetus promo photo 1 Thrash Hits

As touring packages go, this year’s Bonecrusher Fest looked as lip-smackingly packed with extreme metal goodness as you could ask for. Angelus Apatrida, Burning The Masses (stepping in at the last minute to cover Annotations Of An Autopsy’s absence), Fleshgod Apocalypse, Carnifex, Keep Of Kalessin and Dying Fetus sounded a bit too good to miss. Here’s what we found out from this orgy of brutality.

The Month In Metal: May 2009

May 1st, 2009

Not sure what you should be getting up to in the next four weeks when you’re not dodging outbreaks of Swine Flu? Thrash Hits has some recommendations.

Slam Dunk Festival Thrash Hits

Sweet Drunken Bank Holidays ahoy! That’s what we like best about May – two four-day weeks, and two three-day weekends. They’re the perfect excuse to do even less work and spend even more time eating, drinking, listening, watching, and shoving metal into every orifice we’ve got going. We’ve picked 3 albums, 3 tours, and 3 events to help you select when, where and how you choose to stuff yours.

Photos + Live: Altamont Never Say Die! Tour @ London Forum – 15 November 2008

November 19th, 2008

parkway drive thrash hits

The Altamont Never Say Die! Tour has a lot of gumption putting seven bands – and good bands at that – onto a single bill. It’s almost too much to take in, a full five-solid hours of murderous intent, spat out from the stage with all the ferocity of a rutting rhino.

Support bands have wet dreams about crowds like tonight’s– rather than barging each other out the way at the bar, they’re packing the floor with a whirling-dervish hardcore pit. Carnifex and Whitechapel both respond by dropping breakdown after bloody breakdown.

New tours and releases roundup – 26 June 2008

June 26th, 2008

Nickelback Chad Kroeger Roadrunner Records Thrash Hits

A whole bunch of new albums have been announced these past few days. The most exciting has to be Trvium’s fourth full-length effort, Shogun. Unleashed on 29 September 2008 through Roadrunner Records ahead of their co-headline Unholy Alliance tour with Slayer, early reports suggest that they’re back to actually sounding like Trivium and that it’s rather a good album.

Undoubtedly less exciting but definitely more unit-shifting is the announcement that dour, 12 million-selling alt-metallers Staind have joined the Roadrunner stable. Their sixth album, The Illusion Of Progress is released on 8 September 2008, just before they tour arenas with their new labelmates, Nickelback (inexplicably pictured above).

Recently signed to Hassle Records – home to Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats and Juliette & The Licks among others – Hysterics will be released on 22 September 2008 with a sweat-drenched free launch party that day at London’s Old Blue Last.

The best tour that we’ve heard about has Australian metalcore masters Parkway Drive and Boston legends Unearth headlining it this November. The Never Say Die Tour also has Architects, Protest The Hero, Whitechapel and Carnifex frequenting some odd parts of the country.

Kentucky’s Black Stone Cherry are a band that are clearly hitting both sides of the rock fence. Having performed at both Isle Of Wight and Download Festival on the same weekend, they have announced a new album, Folklore And Superstition to be released on 18 August 2008 via Roadrunner Records. Currently supporting Def Leppard and Whitesnake on their arena tour, BSC have announced winter dates.

They will be touring with Linkin Park on the Projekt Revolution tour across the US from 16 July to 27 August. A UK tour is threatened later in the year.
