Corrupt Moral Altar on Thrash Hits
November 5th, 2014
Corrupt Moral Altar’s opening set at Damnation Festival 2014 gets a lot of attention, even if the fidelity offered by the room doesn’t measure up. Just because the band make an unholy furious noise doesn’t mean that the acoustics of a room can’t mess with them. The PHD stage was in the Riley Smith Hall, a large hollow cube of a place, and all too much of the Liverpudlians’ sonic intensity was sucked up into the rafters, rather than roasting the packed crowd.

If you’re excited by the prospect of Corrupt Moral Altar‘s first full album, chances are it’s due to the feral rage that suffused their two previous EPs. The sludge-tinged grindcore of Whiskey Sierra and Luciferian Deathcult were the aural equivalent of a rusty steel bolt through the neck.
It’s probably going to make some of people unhappy then that Mechanical Tides is a marked evolution from that sound.

Nasty, brutish, and just 18 minutes long, Whiskey Sierra, the new EP from Liverpudlian grind-crust outfit Corrupt Moral Altar, is this week’s pick for If You Buy One Thing This Week. Delayed due to some manufacturing issues, the 7″ gets a proper release this week, and you most definitely need to grab a copy before it sells out. Think Iron Monkey but played three times as fast and you’ll understand why we’ve got this particular record spinning on repeat this week.
