Clive Burr, former drummer with heavy metal legends Iron Maiden, died in his sleep earlier this week on Tuesday March 12, 2013. He was 56 years old. Although he was fired from the band in 1982, Bur remained friends with his former bandmates, who were longtime supporters Clive Aid, the charity Burr was a patron of which raised funds and awareness for cancer and multiple sclerosis (of which Burr himself suffered) causes around the world. It’s in recognition of his role in the history of one of the world’s biggest metal fans that we’ve put together this week’s Sunday Slaylist as a tribute to Clive Burr.
There is more than one band called Elixir; 1) Elixir is a British heavy metal band, formed by Steve Bentley, Kevin Dobbs, Nigel Dobbs and Phil Denton in November 1983. They are notable for being associated with the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. The band spent the first time after having formed writing material and rehearsing. After brief stints as "Purgatory" and "Hellfire" the members finally decided on naming the band "Elixir".
