Fleshgod Apocalypse is a death metal band from Rome, Italy formed in 2007 by Hour of Penance member Francesco Paoli (Drums/Guitars/Backing vocals) , Christiano Trionfera (Guitars) and Paolo Rossi (Vocals/Bass, Promaetheus Unbound). Francesco Struglia joined the band after on Drums but left in 2008 due to personal interest change and other commitments. The band was previously known as the death/thrash metal act Tyrannic Ethical Reconstruction.

With Fleshgod Apocalypse’s last studio album, The Agony, you had to be prepared to sit down and give it the attention and diligence it demanded; it was a punishing and mesmerising experience as waves of debilitating kick drum and disorientating orchestral barrages churned in your ear canal. In the midst of this maelstrom, bubbles of savage melody would rise to the surface, either in the form of Paulo Rossi’s clean vocals or the breakneck riffs that forced their way above the symphonic chaos below.

January is hands down the grimmest month of the promoter’s year. It’s cold and everyone’s skint, hungover and depressed about the bleak reality of returning to work and beginning another mundane year of Yes sir, No sir, Three bags full sir. Which means if you’re going to put on a night, you better be damn sure you book good enough bands to draw out the crowds. We did it last year with the debut Thrash Hits Presents… gig at the Old Blue Last (which sold out) so believe us when we say we know it ain’t easy. Tonight’s billing is strong enough to fill The Underworld for two consecutive nights, something quite rare for this time of year.

As touring packages go, this year’s Bonecrusher Fest looked as lip-smackingly packed with extreme metal goodness as you could ask for. Angelus Apatrida, Burning The Masses (stepping in at the last minute to cover Annotations Of An Autopsy’s absence), Fleshgod Apocalypse, Carnifex, Keep Of Kalessin and Dying Fetus sounded a bit too good to miss.
