Glassjaw

Glassjaw is a highly influential post-hardcore band from Long Island, NY. They formed in the summer of 1993 after Daryl Palumbo and Justin Beck met each other at camp. They recorded some demos before releasing the EP "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" in 1997, and recorded their first full length album "Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence" in 2000 on Roadrunner Records. The record brought the band out of Long Island and into the hands of a dedicated grass-roots following. Read more on Last.fm

Thrash Hits Podcast 1

This week’s podcast has Tom Doyle joinging Hugh back in the Thrash Hits studio, and this week they’re taking a long hard look at the line-up for Hevy Festival 2012. As the UK’s up-and-coming hardcore, punk and rock festival prepares for its fourth year, we’re looking at the headliners, our top picks from lower down the bill, the unusual layout for this year’s festival, as well as baselessly speculating on the potential this young festival upstart has for the future. Oh, and mouthing off about a couple of bands. Y’know – the usual.

01 January 2011

by Andy Parker

With hiatus-after-hiatus, mixed-up side projects, debilitating health issues and quite frankly two of the hugest egos on the planet, Glassjaw are finally gearing up for the eventual release of the ‘much awaited’ new album later in 2011. Before that though, Glassjaw (well, Daryl Palumbo, Justin Beck and 2 others) have decided to released this digital EP of non-album singles.

Sunday Spotify Slaylist: Hevy Festival 2010

August 8th, 2010

I shouldn’t be writing this right now. Right about now, I should be waking up in a tent at Hevy Festival down in Kent, getting ready for Sepultura, Sylosis, Turbowolf, and all the other kick ass bands playing later today. Instead, thanks to a series of unfortunate fuck-ups I won’t bore you with the details of here, I’m stuck in London, and not at the final day of Hevy Festival. And I’m compounding my misery with this Slaylist.

Linkin Park are the biggest selling band of this decade, nay, century. That’s a statement that really hurts, isn’t it. They’ve sold more records than Metallica, Iron Maiden or even The Beatles. Yes, feel free to weep because there doesn’t seem like much to celebrate. Right? WRONG!

There really have been some amazing bands, albums and songs that have have had an amazing effect over the past ten years and we’re going to focus on them with loads of celebratory articles about them. And this is where you can find all of them. Handy, eh?

The powerviolence supergroup United Nations are releasing their eponymous debut album on 9 September 2008 through Eyeball Records.

Featuring Daryl Palumbo (pictured above in the ill-fated Tuned Magazine) of Glassjaw and Head Automatica, Geoff Rickly of Thursday and Ben Koller of Converge, United Nations are going to spit out some gnarly sounds.

This album is going to heavier and dirtier than your mother. And the track titles are bloody great. ‘The Shape of Punk That Never Came’? Amazing.

‘The Spinning Heart of the Yo-Yo Lobby’
‘No Sympathy For A Sinking Ship’
‘Resolution #9’
‘Model UN’
‘The Shape of Punk That Never Came’
‘My Cold War’
‘Filmed In Front of A Live Studio Audience’
