Season’s Bleedings 2010-2011: Invasion

December 10th, 2010

It’s been a busy year for Marek Steven – he put on Live Evil Festival and started work on the second album of the occult riff tornado  that is Invasion. He wants his Christmas to involves old-skool metal and mulled wine. He is less keen on it featuring burglars and the Insane Clown Posse.

When did you find out Santa Claus wasn’t real and how did it happen?
I have a vague recollection of my older brother and sister breaking it to me and looking quite worried. Good times. That very early Christmas magic is pretty special. Mystical!

HEAVIEST. WEEKEND. EVER.

April 9th, 2010

It’s not often we say this – fuck, it’s probably the only time we’ve ever said it – but this weekend London is just Too Damn Metal. Not only are EyeHateGod playing at ULU tomorrow (Oh. Hells. Yes!), but the number of metal events going on this weekend that we actually want to go to (as opposed, y’know, to shitty clubnights full of children listening to shitty punk music) actually exceeds our ability to attend.

If you’re in London tonight and not at Machine Head…

February 18th, 2010

…then you could do a whole shit less well than coming down to Brixton anyway, as the cosmic riff rumble of Invasion will be playing a free show just up the road at The Rest Is Noise. Actually, even if you’re one of the poor multitude that isn’t lucky enough to live in grimy, dirty, beautiful shithole that is London, Invasion are doing an entire tour of free shows throughout the UK over the next few weeks, so plenty of you will get a chance for some. Get. The. Fuck. In!

You know those nights out when suddenly it’s 4AM and you’re standing in a field with some people you don’t know and there’s some naked girls dancing round a fire and you have no idea how you got there?

Yeah, that’s what the debut album from Invasion will do to you.

Single: Invasion – Conjure War

Invasion
Conjure War
This Is Music
1 June 2009

by Hugh Platt

Opening with an exploratory bark of riff through a quiet background-buzz of feedback, the title track of Conjure War makes its presence felt by suddenly revving itself into a frothing fountain of fuzzed-up guitars. But rather than extending into a 10-minute prog riff-wank, Invasion instead bring their wizard-worshipping psych-rock both to a head and to a close in just over a minute and a half. I guess that’s why this release is being dubbed as a “single” rather than an EP – “Extended Play” this is not.

Future Hits 021: Invasion

April 20th, 2009

The songs of London trio Invasion might be short, but they definitely ain’t sweet – wizard robes and monster riffs, delivered in sub-two minute psyche-rock nuggets. We put guitarist, Marek Steven, through the Future Hits treatment.

How did you meet?
Myself and our drummer Zel were already playing some of the same tunes together with a different singer from early 2006. She was good singer but ‘difficult’, and when she moved to New York we played a couple of instrumental shows to see what happened. Luckily our current singer Chan came to the second one on New Years Day in 2007. She told us she wanted to sing for us and amazingly she was just what we were looking for. We found a new, and better, singer before our old one landed in the US!
