Karma to Burn is an American instrumental stoner rock band. The band was formed in 1994, in Hicksville, West Virginia (actually Morgantown, West Virginia, though this was a running joke also reflected in bios of the band on other Web sites).

Their instrumental album Almost Heathen is widely regarded as on par Kyuss' Welcome to Sky Valley and Monster Magnet's Spine of God, as one of the defining albums of the stoner rock genre, although the band themselves referred to their style as malternative. Read more on

With all the brouhaha regarding summer outdoor festivals, we somewhat neglected a springtime indoor one that’s taking place on our very doorstep – DesertFest. Today is the third and final day of the first London incarnation of the festival, where more than 50 stoner, doom, spacerock and sludge bands have been giving the foundations of Camden Town a solid shake-up. If – like us – you had to miss this year’s festival, you can at least console yourself with the Spotify Slaylist we’ve made in the festival’s honour.

Topping the list of additions is Trent Reznor’s chief object of scorn, Chris Cornell, Southern metal uber-group Down, and yet another classic rock act to join those already on the line-up – San Francisco’s Journey.
