Kim Gordon, who was born April 28th, 1953 in Rochester, NY, is chiefly known as the bass player and singer (along with Lee Ranaldo and her then partner Thurston Moore) for Sonic Youth.

She has taken part in many experimental side-projects, notably with DJ Olive and in the noise-pop girl band Free Kitten. She is currently in a duo called Body/Head.

She is also involved in the field of contemporary art, devising audiovisual installations. Read more on Last.fm

Supersonic Festival 2012 Thrash Hits

Last week we dropped a Damnation Festival-themed Slaylist, and this week we’re focussing on another indoor Autumn festival – Supersonic. While not specifically a metal festival (or even necessarily a “heavy” festival), Supersonic pushes the boundaries of what you can do with a music festival in ways that traditional metal fests can’t even dream of. Because traditional metal fests are too busy working themselves into a froth over who their headliners are.
