Let’s Talk Daggers are a three piece experiemental post-hardcore band from Eastbourne, UK featuring Will Gunson, Jim Windless and Steven Berwick. Despite originating from a coastal town that’s more often associated as a retirement destination rather than a musical hub, the band play a style of music that couldn’t be any more of an antithesis to their sleepy backdrop. Loud, fast and frantic, their sound is an unnerving blend of genres and styles that would come across as disjointed and cocophonous if attempted by most bands Read more on

Sunday Slaylist: Hevy Festival 2014

Hevy Festival 2014 Sunday Slaylist Thrash Hits

There’s just over a month to go until Hevy Festival 2014 marks the festival’s return to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park down in Kent. After – let’s be honest, a fairly disasterous turn of events in 2013 that saw the festival cancelling and taking a year off – the festival is back, with a new focus and energy behind it. It might not have the size or chequebook to match Download or Sonisphere, but the return of Hevy to the UK festival calendar is definitely something we can get behind – which is why this week’s Sunday Spotify Slaylist is all about their 2014 line-up.

Every band wants to class themselves as something fresh, unique and exciting. However despite many claiming this nine out of ten times your average band are going to be another metalcore or pop-punk shaped piece of conveyor belt crap dropped in front of us for mass consummation. But when Let’s Talk Daggers claim they “make music that doesn’t fit into any particular genre”, they may be one of the few bands that can genuinely back up such bold claims.

Who are the most underrated band in the UK? It’s a hard question isn’t it and one to which everyone will have their own answers (hell, why not send us your suggestions, one of you might even be right). Well, with their new EP, Winter, Eastbourne power trio Let’s Talk Daggers are throwing their hat into the ring for the crown of “best band you should’ve heard but ain’t”. This is, after all, a sparky, chaotic and genuinely diverse little record which takes the tired cliché ‘we try and take aspects from all our influences’ and actually, y’know, does it.

We’ve been talking up The Tangled Tour for aaagggeeesss. We’re big fans of every band that’s taking part, and we can’t remember the last time we could say that about a tour that’s got seven bands playing over the course of its run. We’re not the only ones to think so either – when we arrived at The Hope & Anchor last weekend, they were having to turn people away at the door….

Thrash Hits Verdict:
Yet another of the bands taking to the road next month as part of The Tangled Tour, Let’s Talk Daggers are one of the more hidden gems from Tangled Talk Records. True, they’re a spiky, off-kilter kind of hidden gem, but that just means you’ve got more of a reason to turn up early-doors to The Tangled Tour and catch them showing their skills off live, doesn’t it?
