1)Mine: 90’lı yıllarda Ajlan - Mine ikilisiyle hayatımıza giren Mine, uzun zamandır üzerinde çalıştığı “Benim Günüm” isimli maxi single’ını Mess Production etiketiyle 2009’un Mart ayında yayımladı. The UK Hardcore scene is one that has been enjoying a surge in popularity over the past few years but why is that? Tomas Doyle talks to prominent figures in the scene to try to discover whether the divide that appears to be growing is really there and if it is, what we can do about it…

Few scenes, if any, have enjoyed such a leap to mainstream popularity as hardcore has in the last ten years. The rise and rise of its sister genre, post-hardcore, package tours both domestic and foreign and a proliferation of the niche as a lifestyle package have all played their part in making the counter culture a big deal but has this move overground diluted what hardcore once stood for and is the UK scene in particular splitting in two? One side more underground, the other sprawling into more public consciousness. What does it mean to be in a hardcore band, either under the radar or more high profile in 2013 and does it even matter anyway?

Back in 2004, Saosin were on the brink of emergence into the big leagues, until vocalist Anthony Green upped sticks in the middle of the Warped Tour. He went on to form Circa Survive, who are still going strong four albums down the line whilst Saosin…flounder. MINE don’t sound even a little like Saosin or Circa Survive, but there is a certain parallel to be drawn.

Thrash Hits verdict: Being long-time fans of Hang The Bastard  (we’ve still got a serious soft spot for their Raw Sorcery EP – yeah, we’re those pricks who say “we prefer the earlier stuff”), when we got an email from their former frontman, Chris Barling, about the new band he’s formed with various ex- and current members of Centurions Ghost and A Long Time Dead, yeah, our interest was piqued. It was doubly-piqued when we gave the band’s debut release – a self-titled EP – a spin. Cue us bundling up some Future Hits questions and firing them over to Chris to get the lowdown on MINE.
