Record Store Day is once again looming – this weekend, music collector nerds of all shapes and sizes will descend upon their local record shops to buy over-priced and often not-very-good limited edition releases to mark the occasion. However, some of the stuff being put out for Record Store Day is bloody brilliant, and the New Heavy Sounds Vol.3 compilation – featuring a load of killer new tracks from a whole load of their bands – is one of those, hence why it’s our pick for If You Buy One Thing This Week.
Monolithian are a two piece blackened doom band from Falmouth in the UK. They consist of Simon on bass and Shannon on drums. Heavy influences from black metal, doom and stoner metal. Down-tuned, pissed off, heavier than hell and blacker than Vargs' soul.

We like Church Of Fuck. That’s why we featured them way back almost a year ago as part of our Label Profile series. They’re responsible for some seriously nasty, crusty, blackened evil sounding noise, and now they’ve only gone and put together a massive fourteen track label sampler that you can get your grubby mitts on for the entirely reasonable price of sod all.
