My Vitriol

My Vitriol image provided by Last.fm Biography from Last.fm

My Vitriol are an alternative rock band formed in 1999 in London, England. The band takes its name from "Brighton Rock" by Graham Greene. In the story, the main character carries a bottle of vitriol (an idiomatic name for sulphuric acid) for self protection. The band currently comprises Ravi Kesavaram (drums), Som Wardner (vocals, guitar and lyrics), Seth Taylor (guitar) and Lauren (bass). Former member Carolyn Bannister (bass and backing vocals) left the group sometime in 2005. The band has so far remained silent concerning her departure. Read more on Last.fm

Happy (belated) birthday, Finelines by My Vitriol

March 6th, 2012

Yeah, so this is a day late but I was either stuck on the London Underground or I was walking home for most of the day because someone left a bag unattended on the Tube. Attend to your bags, please.

Eleven years ago, a cool band called My Vitriol released their debut (and only) album, Finelines. Before I embarked upon my day-long waste of time, I noticed that it was 05 March 2012 whilst talking about Hundred Reasons on Twitter – another band from the same era.

My Vitriol, pictured here in a Melody Maker poster, have released details about a November tour and a double-album possibly planned for release at the same time.

Thrash Hits .com spoke to drummer Ravi Kesavaram at Offset Festival in Hainault Forest, Essex, and he said the band is “planning on releasing a double-album later this year” while frontman Som Wardner confirmed onstage, during a triumphant headline set, that My Vitriol will be touring in November.

After releasing their only album so far, Finelines, in March 2001, the London quartet’s long-awaited second album has been dubbed by some as the UK’s answer to The Chinese Democracy, and we’re definitely looking forward to hearing it.
