When most people think of Adult Swim, they just think about the TV shows they put out. Which is fair enough – that’s their bread’n’butter, after all. However, Adult Swim also dabble their toes in the music game, with their superb Singles Program giving away a load of free music across a whole heap of genres. Their 2013 program has been going for a few weeks now, but the really good stuff is starting to arrive this week.
Pig Destroyer is a popular grindcore band based in Virginia, USA first formed in 1997. Combining old school grindcore with doom and thrash elements, Pig Destroyer have pushed the boundaries of the grind genre and gained a large following. Their unique sound is notable for its absence of bass guitar on their studio albums.
The band was formed in 1997 by vocalist J.R. Hayes (former vocalist Enemy Soil) in 1997, guitarist Scott Hull (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Anal Cunt, Japanese Torture Comedy Hour, and more), and drummer John Evans. Read more on Last.fm

This week we’re turning over the Sunday Slaylist to something a little different – we want you to go buy something. On Monday 18 February, Pat Egan, Relapses Records’ Director of Retail Sales, died following a the result of complications with a case of pneumonia. To raise money for Pat’s daughter’s college fund, the folks over at Relapse have gone and put together a compilation of 20 of the finest bands ever to have worked with the label – and we think it’d be a damn fine gesture if a few of our readers joined us in buying it, in recognition of the awesome music Pat helped bring us over the years, as well as to help out the family of a fellow metal fan when they need it most.

Earlier this week, Damnation Festival announced Hawk Eyes, Ravens Creed and The Atrocity Exhibit as the final three bands for their 2012 line-up, and my, what a killer line-up it is too. Headed up by Dorset doom overlords, Electric Wizard, this year’s Damnation Festival also sees Pig Destroyer make their first return to the UK in eight years – why the hell haven’t you bought a ticket already? If you have bought a ticket already: well done. You know the score.
