Refused is a Post-Hardcore band originating from Umeå, Sweden, formed in 1991. The band's final lineup comprised its founding members, vocalist Dennis Lyxzén and drummer David Sandström, as well as guitarists Kristofer Steen and Jon Brännström. Their lyrics were often of a non-conformist and politically far-left revolutionary nature. The band released five EPs and three albums before initially splitting up in 1998. Kerrang! placed The Shape of Punk To Come at #13 on their 50 Most Important Albums Of All Time list. Read more on Last.fm

Whether it’s about the money or the acknowledgment of a great band, some have gone down wonderfully. Others… less so. This weekend in Downtown LA there’s another festival going in. This week Thrash Hits’ editors, Raziq Rauf and Hugh Platt, review the Download Festival 2012 line-up, discuss which bands fluffed it on the main stage, and sees Raz keep interrupting Hugh’s moaning with his bad James Hetfield impression.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the first Download Festival announcement following the cancellation of their chief 2012 rival has at least one major coup picked from Sonisphere’s carcass – Refused are now going to be making their only UK festival appearance of 2012 at Download Festival. They’re just one of the thirteen new acts that the festival announced today.

Well, it’s finally legit – Refused have confirmed that the festival poster released by Coachella is correct: the seminal Swedish punk outfit WILL be reforming in 2012. At the time of writing, this sole date at Coachella in April is the only thing that Refused have confirmed is going ahead. **UPDATE** Refused have also confirmed they’re playing Sweden’s Way Out West festival in August too.

Sunday Spotify Slaylist: Refused Are Fucking Dead….right?

Well, we’re sure some of you will have noticed that a lot of “media outlets” are getting very excited over the fact that the official Refused website has been updated to a big ol’ placeholder page stating nothing more than “Coming Soon”. That, and a twitter posting from Zane Lowe (even though he seems to have retracted this now), have convinced them that this means the infamous Swedish punk outfit are getting back together.
