Rise To Remain are a London-based 5 piece melodic metalcore band. They were formed in late 2006/early 2007 by Ben Tovey, Will Homer and Austin Dickinson under the name “Halide” as a side project to several of the band’s members other endeavors in music. Within a few months the band solidified their line-up and began playing local shows as well as travelling across the UK, seeking out shows. Soon after we posted a piece pondering the future of festivals once the heritage rock and metal bands of the past 40 years retire, the still mighty Black Sabbath announced that they would be headlining an all-star cast including Faith No More, Motörhead and Soundgarden. Headlining the fourth stage, however, is a somewhat younger band: Rise To Remain.

Download Festival announces 22 more bands for 2012

If you get up very early in the morning, you’ll have spotted that Download Festival‘s head promoter, Andy Copping, announced another 22 bands for this year’s festival via his Twitter account this morning. And as you’d expect from such a large announcement, it’s a mix of old and new, big and small, and awesome and just plain awful.

We love a bit of metal so we went down to Brixton Academy to see Trivium headline Metal Hammer’s Defenders of the Faith tour with In Flames, Ghost and Rise To Remain in tow. Insense played as well but they played really, really early and Gary didn’t even manage to take photos of them up in Manchester. There are loads of photos.
