DesertFest 2012 Sunday Spotify Slaylist Thrash Hits

With all the brouhaha regarding summer outdoor festivals, we somewhat neglected a springtime indoor one that’s taking place on our very doorstep – DesertFest. Today is the third and final day of the first London incarnation of the festival, where more than 50 stoner, doom, spacerock and sludge bands have been giving the foundations of Camden Town a solid shake-up. If – like us – you had to miss this year’s festival, you can at least console yourself with the Spotify Slaylist we’ve made in the festival’s honour.

Thrash Hits Verdict:
Let’s face it – most stoner rockers are just way too stoned to come out with something original. It’s much easier to rehash a few Kyuss and Down riffs than to sit down and write something truly groundbreaking. Plus it leaves time for a few more hits from the bong whilst unlocking the secret missions on whatever version of Grand Theft Auto you haven’t completed. Sedulus are not one of these bands, which is why we like them. We chatted to guitarist Rich Williams to get some actual content for you to read right here. AREN’T WE NICE!

Live: Nebula @ London Camden Barfly – Friday, 12th February 2010

While we were creaming it last Frday over Dillinger Escape Plan’s double-gig at the Barfly, Amit Sharma was just down the road watching Nebula playing live at a different dirthole. It looks like we had a better time of things.

Eddie Glass, creative core and driving force behind Nebula, hasn’t exactly had it easy at the helm of his band of late. With new sticksmith, Jimmy Sweet, having held residence behind the band’s drumkit for mere weeks before tonight’s basement show in the bowels of Camden, bringing the sonic ambience of the desert plains to the Big Smoke looks set to be more of a challenge than usual for the psychedelic stoner rockers.
