Erm…yeah, that’s about it. It’s also been confirmed by Andy Copping, the festival’s promoter, via his Twitter account, so apparently it’s legit.

We’ve got nothing else to add about Shinedown. That’s how exciting this news is. Please continue to carry on with whatever it is you were doing before we wasted 30 seconds of your time with this.

Interview: Shinedown – “I don’t think you will hear a formula.”

March 11th, 2009

We caught up with Shinedown bassist/pianist Eric Bass to talk about touring with Disturbed and to dispel accusations of his band being formulaic, as well as uncovering the hangover cure that never fails but only works 60% of the time.

Loads of bands that are massive in the US can’t be bothered putting in the hard work to get to the same level in the UK and Europe. How does it feel to finally be a headline act over here?

“It is quite frankly one of the best feelings in the world for us. We have never been a band that gets big headed about what we do. We are never satisfied, and are always looking to the future. If you aren’t forward thinking you will get stuck in the place that you are now, or simply get left behind. So for us to be able to break into a new country is a huge honour. It is so fresh to have that feeling of starting over again. It makes us feel like we’re kids again!”

You may have seen Shinedown in the UK recently as the sole support to the mighty Disturbed. They went down an absolute alestorm.

The good news is that a) they’re releasing their big new single, ‘Devour’ on 17 November 2008 through Atlantic Records (it’ll be all over the radio, trust us on this) and b) they’re coming back to the UK in January for their debut headline tour.

Shinedown January tourdates
21 London Underworld
22 Manchester Academy
23 Glasgow King Tuts
25 Birmingham Barfly

You should probably go to one of these shows. They’re rather good live.

Shinedown – ‘Devour’ lyrics
Take it and take it and take it and take it and take it all
Take it and take it and take it until you take us all
Smash it and crash it and thrash it and trash it
You’re only toys
Try it you’ll like it don’t hide it don’t fight it, just let it out
Steal and shoot it and kill it or take another route
Take it and take it and take it
You know they’re only toys

Devour Devour
Suffocate your own empire
Devour Devour
It’s your final hour

Devour Devour
Stolen like a foreign soul
Devour Devour
What a way to go

You want it you want it you want it
Well here it is
Everything everything everything
Isn’t so primitive

Take it and take it and take it and take it and take it all
Nobody nobody wants to feel like this
Nobody nobody wants to live like this
Nobody nobody wants a war like this

Devour Devour
Suffocate your own empire
Devour Devour
It’s your final hour

Devour Devour
Stolen like a foreign soul
Devour Devour
What a way to go
What a way to go

Diving down
Round and round
diving down
round and round

Devour Devour
Suffocate your own empire
Devour Devour
It’s your final hour

Devour Devour
Stolen like a foreign soul
Devour Devour
What a way to go

Devour Devour
Suffocate your own empire
Devour Devour
It’s your final hour

Devour Devour
Stolen like a foreign soul
Devour Devour
What a way to go
What a way to go

‘Devour’ by Shinedown is released 17 November 2008 via Atlantic Records
