Although they’re forced to call themselves “Ghost B.C” in America now, here in the UK the Jägermeister Music Tour is still headlined by a band called Ghost. There’s no legal issues so far as we or anyone else we know can think of regarding Gojira and The Defiled being forced to use different name when stateside, so how about we cut all this introductory chit-chat and get right to the photos, okay?
The Defiled are a 5-piece London based metal band, mixing groove-laden hardcore metal with furious electronics. Described by Kerrang! as "an explosive mangle of Manson stagecraft and middle finger metal" the band have built a fierce fanbase following support slots with bands such as Murderdolls, The 69 Eyes and Dry Kill Logic, culminating in a performance at Bloodstock Open Air 2008. They were also the opening act on the 2010 Jagermeister Music Tour along with Exit Ten and Sylosis . Read more on Last.fm

It’s that time of year again – it’s the return of the Thrash Hits Download Festival splash page for 2012! All of our Download coverage from across the entire weekend will be linked to on this here post, so make sure you bookmark it as it’s all you’re going to need. That means individual band coverage in the form of photos and setlists, as well as reviews of each day’s highlights, every scandalous rumour and dirty bit of gossip that we overhear, and every outrageous photo of muddy debauchery that our photographers can get their lenses on.

Shut up and look at Ben Gibson’s photos of The Defiled. We’ve been telling you to pay attention to this band since before Thrash Hits even existed, so the least you can do is do us this favour this one time.
The Defiled want you to watch them record a live album (if you’ll bung them some cash via PledgeMusic)

We’ve been banging on about how good The Defiled are since before Thrash Hits even existed (as the poor, unfortunate souls we drink with and have to listen to our band-espousing can attest). We wish they’d hurry up and start work on the follow-up to their killer debut long-player, Grave Times, but right now they’re keeping themselves busy with a load of other projects – including the recording of a new live album. A new live album that they want you to help them with.

If you get up very early in the morning, you’ll have spotted that Download Festival‘s head promoter, Andy Copping, announced another 22 bands for this year’s festival via his Twitter account this morning. And as you’d expect from such a large announcement, it’s a mix of old and new, big and small, and awesome and just plain awful.

Is there anything better than a Thrash Hits Festival Splash Page? Yeah, loads of things but you won’t find the best online festival coverage on any of them. You’ll find that right here.
All our work from Sonisphere Festival 2011 is going be linked to from this page (eventually), so give it a bookmark or just don’t close it, because it’s all you’re going to need. Individual band coverage (interviews, photos, setlists and some tiny reviews), rumours, drinking games, stage times, dodgy photos of as many sexy ladies in various states of safe-for-work undress as we can legitimately get away with? It’s all here.

That means individual band coverage (interviews, photos, setlists and maybe even some reviews), all the dodgy rumours and salacious gossip we overhear, and every lewd photo of fit girls frolicking about at Knebworth we can rustle up will be here.

Okay, okay – we’re a little late on this one. The Defiled actually released this video to ‘The Resurrectionts’ – one of the centrepiece tracks from their excellent 1888 EP – last weekend. We just failed to mention it because we’ve either a) been out of the country, b) been moving house, and c) have been battling the technical gremlins all fucking week.
But our troubles really shouldn’t be your concern right now – it should be this video. Because this track is awesome.

Thrash Hits has been following the burgeoning career of London-based metallers, The Defiled, since before we even had a website. In the last year alone they’ve torn Bloodstock a new set of holes, gave Hellfire Festival‘s hangover a serious early afternoon wake-up call, and seen the dark side of Teutonic justice supporting Static-X across Europe.
