Today (January 26) is Australia Day. According to Wikipedia, it “marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Sydney Cove, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip”. In the UK, this means loads of pubs put on extra drink offers on crappy lager in order to entice the nearby Australian ex-pat community into the pub. The Vines are an Australian alternative rock band originally formed as Rishikesh in 1994 in Sydney. They play a musical hybrid of 1960s garage rock and 1990s alternative music. The line-up currently consists of vocalist and lead guitarist Craig Nicholls (the only constant member), founding bass guitarist Patrick Matthews, rhythm guitarist Ryan Griffiths, and drummer Hamish Rosser.
