Obviously, we previewed the three headliners – they’re the ones that sell the tickets, after all – but there are some awesome bands on the undercard as well. There’s always moaning that there’s no metal at Download Festival. These people obviously haven’t or are unable to read the line-up. That means that they probably won’t read about these 12 metal bands either but here’s some metal anyway. Stick it up your arse!

Times of Grace is an American metalcore duo, formed in 2008 in Southampton, Massachusetts. The group consists of Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage) and Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage, The Empire Shall Fall and Seemless) while guitarist Joel Stroetzel (Killswitch Engage), bassist Matt Bachand (rhythm guitarist in Shadows Fall), drummer Dan Gluszak (formerly of Envy on the Coast) complete the touring lineup.

When Killswitch Engage catapulted themselves to the fore of the metalcore scene they’d helped create a decade ago, there was much promise. That pressure quickly told however, as vocalist/lyricist Jesse Leach left the band soon after their breakthrough, seminal 2002 album Alive or Just Breathing. Virtuoso guitarist (and then-drummer) Adam Dutkiewicz remained, but the inimitable synergy between the two has been missing from the rock scene ever since.
