Viatrophy was a deathcore band with heavy melodic influences from Reading, England. They formed by former members of Sylosis, The Seventh Cross, Traces and The Deepest Abyss in 2005. They compile an epic metal sound and a blisteringly destructive live shows. The band reside in the Reading area of the Berkshire metal scene which has spawned such impressive bands as Exit Ten, Sylosis and Malefice.

You’ve probably heard by now that Viatrophy have decided to split up. Which is why Tom Dare made sure he caught the band’s last-ever London show.

It’s not always the best or most exciting bands who garner most attention and success. Viatrophy’s untimely demise and the manner in which London bids them farewell is hard evidence of this; one of the most inventive and brilliant bands to come out of this country in years is calling it a day after only one album, and their last ever date in the capital hardly draws enough people to be called a crowd.

They were That Band Your Mate Mentioned Down The Pub Once Who You Liked The Sound Of And You Were Going To Check Out Later This Year When The New Album Came Out And Then Suddenly You’d Realise They Were Awesome But Since They’ve Just Announced They’re Splitting Up This’ll Never Happen Now.

Yeah, they’re that band.

After their large-scale shindigs in London and Birmingham last year, Hellfire Festival has announced it’s first event for 2010: The Hellfire Club. This time they’re taking over Club Revolution in Peterborough for 3 days of the first in a series of smaller-in-scale but just-as-fucking-loud events.
