Voivod are a progressive thrash metal band from Jonquiere, Quebec, Canada, with a very distinct sound. Formed by Denis "Piggy" D'Amour, Michel "Away" Langevin and Jean-Yves "Blacky" Theriault in 1982, the fledging group soon found the perfect singer in Denis "Snake" Belanger. A blend of thrash with some progressive rock thrown in (on Killing Technology), and lyrics leaning heavily on sci-fi imagery. Let’s cut right to the quick: Bloodstock Open Air have added Voivod, Sabaton, Wolfsbane, Xentrix, Powerquest, Skilton, Evil Scarecrow, Mael Mordha, RSJ and Gormathon to their 2013 line-up.

Today’s ten new additions will join the headliners of King Diamond, Lamb of God, and Slayer (along with all the other bands that have been announced thus far) on the bill over at Catton Hall, which in 2013 takes place on the weekend of 08-11 August. Tickets are on sale now, starting at £125 (before fees) and rising depending on what camping, parking, and VIP stuff you add to the mix.
