Whitesnake is an English hard rock band, founded in 1978 by vocalist David Coverdale (formerly of Deep Purple) in North Yorkshire, UK. The current line-up of the band also include Joel Hoekstra (lead guitar), Reb Beach (rhythm guitar), Michael Devin (bass), Brian Ruedy (keyboards) and Tommy Aldridge (drums). While the group's membership has fluctuated, Coverdale remains the heart and soul of the band.

Since the somewhat meagre official line-up announcement on Monday, we’ve been waiting for the trickle of self-confirmations for this year’s Download festival to start coming in – the latest is that of hard-rockers Whitesnake.
The band has announced over on their official website that they’re going to be playing the Donington metal festival on June 14 – that’s the Sunday, in case you were wondering. We’re hoping this will add weight to the likelihood of a classic rock closure to the festival – ZZ Top and Def Leppard, anyone?
Our friends over at Metal Hammer reckon that Sunday will be a classic rocking extravaganza with ZZ Top and Def Leppard. We just poured some sugar on ourselves…
After three decades of poodle rock brilliance, Def Leppard and Whitesnake are back on tour together. Indeed, they return to the venue they played together 21 years ago.
