In short: Yes, yes it is. We’re not entirely sure why Dez Fafara (DevilDriver, Coal Chamber), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), Rob “Blasko” Nicholson (Prong, Rob Zombie, Danzig, Ozzy Osbourne), and John Tempesta (White Zombie, Testament, The Cult) decided it would be a good idea to team up and cover ‘Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer’ (for the Metal Christmas album, We Wish You A Merry Xmas and a Headbanging New Year). Neither are we quite sure whether or not the beyond OTT nature of the result in any way justifies the idea’s inherent stupidity. In either case, we’ll be damned if we have to suffer the knowledge of this song’s existence alone.
Whitesnake are an English hard rock band, founded in 1978 by vocalist David Coverdale (formerly of Deep Purple) in North Yorkshire, UK. The current line-up of the band also include Joel Hoekstra (lead guitar), Reb Beach (rhythm guitar), Michael Devin (bass), Brian Ruedy (keyboards) and Tommy Aldridge (drums). While the group's membership has fluctuated, Coverdale remains the heart and soul of the band.
In their early years, Whitesnake played in a hard-edged blues rock and heavy metal influenced style. Read more on Last.fm

Since the somewhat meagre official line-up announcement on Monday, we’ve been waiting for the trickle of self-confirmations for this year’s Download festival to start coming in – the latest is that of hard-rockers Whitesnake.
The band has announced over on their official website that they’re going to be playing the Donington metal festival on June 14 – that’s the Sunday, in case you were wondering. We’re hoping this will add weight to the likelihood of a classic rock closure to the festival – ZZ Top and Def Leppard, anyone?
