We jumped on Wolves Like Us over three ears ago when we first clapped our ears around some of their early demo tracks over on MySpace. Yes, it was THAT long ago. Thankfully we weren’t the only people impressed by this, as the band are getting ready to release their second album, Black Soul Choir, on the mighty Prosthetic Records. We caught up with them before a sweaty old show at the Camden Barfly to interrogate guitarist/vocalist Larsh Kristensen and bassist Toy Kjeldaas on one of 2014’s early album highlights.

Wolves Like Us are absolutely one of our favourite bands to have come out of Norway over the past few years. We loved their 2011 album, Late Love very much and along with Kvelertak and Blood Command, the Oslo quartet have shown us where the excellent heavy music is coming from. We’re very pleased to be debuting the video to their brand new song, ‘Get Gone’.

When Wolves Like Us played at The Underworld with Kvelertak before Christmas we took a few moments to catch up with one of our favourite new bands of 2011. Drummer, Jonas Thire was telling us about how excellent their Prosthetic Records labelmates, Junius were and that they wanted to tour together. Well, it’s happened.

I’ve spent 2011 harping on about one band: Trap Them. It’s unlikely you could have had a conversation with me about music without me saying “Darker” and “Handcraft” at some point. I may have just spoilt the incredible fun of reading my list. Anyway… the other nine albums on this list are wicked as well. Buy them all.

The votes are in, the arguments have been settled, and the fights concluded without too much bloodshed – The Thrash Hits Top 20 Albums of 2011 list is here. We polled all of our writers, photographers, and contributors as to what their favourite records of the year have been, and through a series of complex mathematical formulae, we’ve calculated the 20 albums that have come out on top.

Awesome Norwegian rockers, Wolves Like Us are touring the UK with Kvelertak next week. We’ve listened to their debut album, Late Love literally dozens of times because it’s really that good. They’ve released a spooky video to ‘Secret Handshakes’, a song off that album. You should watch it. They’re in a forest with a scary little girl.

Spawned from the remains of folded Norwegian bands such as Amulet and JR Ewing, Oslo’s Wolves Like Us first caught our ears in 2010. Their debut album, Late Love is 40 minutes of grand, pounding, desert rock-influenced hardcore. It’s good. It’s very, very good.

Sounds Like: Biffy Clyro if they lost the stadium-rock ambitions, and replaced them with stronger gutter-rock instincts and far, far superior facial hair.
Since we developed such a major boner for Kvelertak earlier this year, we’ve spent a great deal of time lurking around some of their fan forums, and one name that kept popping up over and over again – Wolves Like Us. We emailed drummer, Jonas Thire, to find out more about this intriguing Norwegian four-piece. Just don’t call them a “hardcore” band….
