Well, it’s now 100% official – Sonisphere Knebworth 2012 has been cancelled. As we reported yesterday, the rumours surrounding the festival had reached fever pitch, and in light of this, the announcement this morning doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
The word on the internet grapevine is that Sonisphere Festival 2012 has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales. Yes, this sucks. We love Sonisphere a lot and we love it in the present tense.
We’ve had a few confirmations from people linked to the festival but there’s no official word from the festival promoters, Kilimanjaro as of yet. We understand that an official statement will be made tomorrow, so hold tight.
By our estimation, this has been sitting on Feeder’s website for over a week now. OOPS. Has anyone spotted any other festival leaks thanks to bands getting careless with their posted tour dates? Drop us a comment down below.
Sonisphere Festival have confirmed 11 new bands for their Knebworth bill this July. Heading up this new announcement are Kvelertak, Crowbar, and Electric Wizard, and along with the rest of the new additions to the line-up, brings the total number of bands announced for Sonsphere UK this Summer up to a total of 34.
Sonisphere Festival have confirmed Queen (with Adam Lambert), Faith No More, and KISS as the headliners for the UK leg of their European festival franchise. In addition to these three main stage headliners, Sonisphere have confirmed an additional twenty other acts for their 2012 UK incarnation, bringing the total of bands announced for Knebworth this summer up to 23.

GOBSMACKED“…well, it seems The Daily Star have gone and blown all our secrets out of the water – today they confirmed that this year’s Sonisphere Festival headliners in the UK will be Faith no More and Queen….fronted by Adam Lambert.

Well, this week Sonisphere finally broke their silence and announced some of the bands that will be playing their Spanish and Finnish festivals this year. As yet there’s still no names for Knebworth, and as Metal Hammer noted, some of the names that are playing in Madrid and Helsinki are playing Download in the UK, and therefore seem highly unlikely to make the UK edition of Sonisphere. But it got us thinking – what bands could be playing at Knebworth this year?
