Photos: Therapy? @ Brighton Conchorde 2 – 31 March 2015

April 2nd, 2015

Andy Cairns from Therapy? is arguably one of the people we really ought to have made more of an effort to interview over the years. This latest interview he did with Kiran Acharya for The Quietus is phenomenal. Go and read it now.

All we can offer is a gallery of awesome photos by our man in Brighton, Mike Burnell, who was on hand to snap the band when their recent UK tour hit his town. You can check out his gallery of shots right after the jump.

Photos: The Answer @ Brighton Conchorde 2 – 25 March 2015

March 26th, 2015

The Answer are one of those bands we’re just glad exists. Sure, sure, they aren’t exactly breaking any molds with their respectfully-retro brand of heavy rock, but they most definitely do it was a damn sight more panache than 99% of the naff revivalist bands we’ve sat through over the last seven years. They’re currently out on the road to tour their latest album, Raise A Little Hell, and they’ve brought The Picturebooks and Bad Touch along with them.

Naturally, our man in Brighton, Mike Burnell was down for the whole shebang to get lots of photos of the whole lot of them when they turned up to play a show in his town earlier this week. Check the whole damn gallery out after the jump.

Neck Deep live by Mike Burnell Thrash Hits

Neck Deep are one of those bands who seem to have everything coming to an exciting head all at once. Despite spending much of 2014 on the road, they still managed to win a K! Award for Best Newcomer, and support Blink 182 at their Brixton Academy shows. Now every man and his hype-chasing dog are on their case. Well played, lads from Wrexham.

So natuarally, we made sure our man Mike Burnell was on hand to get lots of photos of them when the band turned up to play a show in Brighton last week. We don’t stop chasing those web clicks!

Crossfaith live in 2014 by Mike Burnell Thrash Hits

Our favourite thing about Crossfaith is in their video toJägerbomb’, to which a mutual acquaintance of the band and Thrash Hits remarked to us “that’s such a load of bollocks – I’ve been out on the town with those lads and they can’t put it away like that.” Oh, Crossfaith, you scamps.

Whatever. That was just a pithy intro paragraph to this post featuring a gallery of photos from the Brighton date of their UK tour, shot by our man Mike Burnell. Check it out.

A Day To Remember 2014 by Mike Burnell Thrash Hits

Last week it was Asking Alexandria, this week it’s A Day To Remember – this autumn really is packed to the guts with bands consolidating their status at the top of the Kerrangcore tree with some of the biggest tours they’ve ever mounted. ADTR are even big enough to bring Radio 1-playlist botherers, Lower Than Atlantis, along as their main support. We made sure our man in Brighton, Mike Burnell, was there to photograph the both of them.

Asking Alexandria- live in Brighton 2014 by Mike Burnell Thrash Hits

Asking Alexandria are bloody massive. We can’t pretend this is some flash in the pan rise-to-fame – they’ve been slowly building their fanbase over the past five years, and there’s no denying that they’ve reached the size needed to play some of the biggest venues in the UK (before making the step up to arena-level) by putting in some hard graft. As well as many years of dedicated dicking about. That’s why we sent our man in Brighton, Mike Burnell, along to photograph the Brighton date of the band’s biggest headline UK tour to date.

Saint Vitus @ Damnation Festival – 01 November 2014

Saint Vitus at Damnation Festival 2014 by Kirsty Garland Thrash Hits

Saint Vitus are deservedly one of the great institutions of doom metal. The Californians’ set on the main stage at Damnation 2014 was a career-spanning display of everything they’re still capable of. As much as Damnation has showcased up-and-coming talent over the years, its ability to give true legends a platform to showcase just why they’re considered as such is an equal reason why Damnation has clocked ten years at the top.

Sólstafir @ Damnation Festival – 01 November 2014

Solstafir at Damnation Festival 2014 by Kirsty Garland Thrash Hits

We couldn’t get in the room to review Sólstafir properly when they played Damnation Festival 2014. Not only were security having to operate a one-in-one-out policy to cope with the popularity of Icelandic four-piece, but by the time we made it to the PHD stage, the queue was spiralling out of site up a nearby staircase. What we could hear by lurking near the doors sounded pretty damn great, but we’re going to have to let our photographer Kirsty Garland’s photos do the talking for this one.
