It’s been a little over two years since Rammstein last came and conquered London – and setting an early benchmark for “Gig Of The Year” in the process. Tonight they are back at a bigger venue – with rumours of an even bigger stage show. Our man Amit Sharma thought he’d head down and see if they really could top that performance he caught last time round. Or at the very least, to see if he could get “spunked” on.

Thrash Hits TV: Tosin Abasi from Animals As Leaders talks guitar heroes

Tosin Abasi Animals As Leaders Thrash Hits

If there’s one member of the Thrash Hits team guaranteed to get along with Tosin Abasi, the guitar virtuoso at the heart of Animals As Leaders, it’s our man, Amit Sharma. The pair of them giggled like children as they traded stories about Frank Gambale, Guthrie Govan, and the wonders of 7- and 8-strong guitars. We suspect if our video camera hadn’t been there, they might’ve even gotten a little fresh with each other.

It’s only been two years since Megadeth unleashed Endgame and despite the hectic tour schedule over that time, they are back with their thirteenth studio album TH1RT3EN. This is the final release in their current recording contract with Roadrunner Records, and various interviews with Dave Mustaine would indicate it is quite likely to be their last. Following the glowing response that met its predecessor and all the extra exposure generated from the Big Four shows, it would be fair to say the pressure is on and expectations are high.

Chances are if you are reading this you will have a good idea of what heavy metal is. You may have noticed how many bands out there describe themselves as “F**K-OFF HEAVY”…and yet when you hear their music this is far from the case. The Rotted are a band that actually do live up to expectation, and we’ll bet anyone you know that has seen them will testify the very same.

Following their storming set at Download Festival in June, virtuoso supergroup Mr. Big are back to promote their seventh studio album What If… with a full UK tour. We like fast guitars and massive choruses, so headed down to Shepherd’s Bush Empire to watch the best band ever to share a name with a Sex And The City character. Not that we know much about the show or own the box set or anything.

It’s been a long time coming, but after an eight-year wait, and two years of frontman-deliberation, Anthrax are finally back with their tenth studio album, Worship Music. Originally intended to be their first album with their eighth and short-lived vocalist, Dan Nelson, and then for some time following his dismissal seeming like John Bush would be back in the picture, it finally fell to the now re-instated frontman, Joey Belladonna, to eventually provide the album’s vocals. After all this drama, will Worship Music actually be worth the wait?

It’ s only been a year since Black Country Communion stormed onto the scene with one of the best records of 2010, and they are already back with their next offering of bona fide blues rock. From the moment you hear the opening crescendo of ‘The Outsider’ it’s obvious this band are oozing confidence at this stage of their career, with no hesitation in producing that often very difficult second album.
