Ben Ward from Orange Goblin is still the tallest man we have ever stood next to, and we’ve stood next to James Monteith. And unlike that skinny bag of bones from TesseracT, Ben Ward also has the air of a strategically-shaved wookie – i.e., you get the impression he could quite easily pull your arms off. What any of these observations have to do with our gallery of photos from their set at Bloodstock Open Air 2012, we don’t know.

The big, fat slab of grunt fodder that is Orange Goblin’s latest release belies their psychedelic past, but not entirely to its detriment. The ethereal leanings of their earlier works have been shed and with their latest release they’ve grown a more coherent and altogether heavier sound, that benefits from A Eulogy For the Damned’s assured, singular feel.
