Y’know when Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler released that terse little statement yesterday, saying they weren’t going to respond at length to Bill Ward’s prior essay on the ins and outs of why he wasn’t going to be part of this year’s Black Sabbath reunion? Well, it turns out they’ve responded to it in a different way.

And it’s one of the pettiest, most childish – and admittedly, inventive – ways imaginable.

Well, this another one of those news pieces where the title pretty much says it all. Black Sabbath – i.e., Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler – have released a statement in response to the large statement made by Bill Ward yesterday, when he ruled himself out of the Black Sabbath reunion over contract issues.

By now you’ve no doubt have heard that Bill Ward is – at the time of writing at least – no longer going to be taking part in either the recording of the new Black Sabbath album or the corresponding world tour. This situation all kicked off on Thursday, when Bill Ward published a statement, detailing why he might be forced to sit out the Black Sabbath reunion. The three other members of Black Sabbath then seemingly decided to take matters into their own hands and publicly announce they were moving on without Ward.

But what’s really going on? Let’s look between the lines, shall we? You might want to get a cup of tea on the go before I start off though – this is gonna be a long one….

Entire Black Sabbath goes digital

March 26th, 2009

It’s not often we get excited/interested in re-releases and stuff like that. Nine times out of ten it’s just people making a song and dance about records you should already own. Even less exciting is the news that so-and-so band has just had all their songs put up on iTunes and all the other legal download shops. It makes me sleepy just typing about it.

For Black Sabbath though, we make an exception.
