Bloodstock Open Air 2012 Thrash Hits

Is there anything better than a Thrash Hits Festival Splash Page? Yeah, loads of things but you won’t find the best online festival coverage on any of them. You’ll find that right here. All our work from Bloodstock Open 2012 is going be linked to from this page (eventually), so give it a bookmark or just don’t close it, because it’s all you’re going to need. Interviews, photos, setlists, rumours, and who knows? – maybe even some tiny reviews – it’s all here. [Read more →]

April 1st, 2012

Queen Brian May Adam Lambert CANCELLED Thrash Hits

There’s not denying it – for UK rock fans, the cancellation of Sonisphere 2012 was the biggest news story this week. PROGTOLOGY with James Monteith of TesseracT: #2 – A Djentlemen’s Guide to SxSW

April 4th, 2011

After the awesomeness of TesseracT guitarist, James Monteith‘s first column about Djent and self-indulgence, he checks in from on the road – the prog-metallers are currently on their second US tour – with his second column all about how to party hard at South By South West

Sitting on the washing machine in a launderette is a great place to be when on tour. With no Wi-Fi and the mellowing rumble of the drums, it’s a serene place to reflect on times past, and what a crazy week I’ve just had. I’m at the start of the TesseracT tour with Protest The Hero and Maylene & The Sons of Disaster which is awesome, and I’ve just come from Austin, Texas and the South By South West festival.

It’s a new Crowbar record. You know pretty much from the outset that the chances of this getting a slating are essentially nil – unless Kirk Windstein has decided to put out an experimental record that rejects the NOLA sludge riff-fests and adopts an uber-necro black metal meets commercial house style, it’s going to be good. The only question is the degree to which it rules – is it “just another Crowbar record” or has the bearded riff-lord written music that sticks its hand down your trousers and fondles you in a more-than-welcome manner? Interview: Eyehategod – “I ended up cutting my hand open and dripping blood all over the studio”

June 1st, 2010

It’s fair to say that Mike Williams of Eyehategod has not had it easy these last five years. In that time, he lost his house, and pretty much all his worldy possessions to Hurrican Katrina. While staying in a motel in the aftermath of the hurricane, he was arrested for drugs offences and spent several months in prison. While there, Williams went through the joys of heroin withdrawal.

Yeah, he’s not had it good.
