Earlier this year, we were minding our own business over on Twitter when we notice Dale Butler from Malefice kicking up a rage over the attitudes of certain quarters of the UK metal scene. Never ones to turn down the opportunity for some good ol’ fashioned shit-stirring, we dropped Dale an email and asked him whether he fancied writing about what had got him so angry with a few more words than 140 characters would allow. Take it away, Dale….
It’s a fact that at least one of our writers fancies Dale Butler from Malefice. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but when we saw Dale onstage at Download Festival 2011 sporting a lovely and completely inoffensive new tshirt, we smirked a little. Now you’ve got the chance to WIN said tshirt.
Malefice are one of British heavy metal’s great hopes for the next few years. Basically, they’re dead good, bloody love their metal (especially the Download Festival part of it) and vocalist Dale Butler, does not like Kid Rock.
What was your highlight of 2008?
Playing Download 2008, dude. Literally lived a dream that day. Thank you to all the people that came out early and bled for us! It was insane!
What’s the worst thing that happened to you in 2008?
Probably crashing our van on tour in September. It wasn’t that bad – nobody was hurt – but it kept us off the road for four days. Bear in mind we had been in the studio recording the new album for about three to four months, so we were eager to be out playing. It sucked.
