After 2011’s ambitious but slightly unfulfilling The Here And Now, the UK’s premier tech metallers, Architects are back already with their fifth album, Daybreaker. And it’s really fucking good.

After the discordant chimed beginnings of opening song, ‘The Bitter End’, the album builds and builds until the jarring siren riffs of ‘Alpha Omega’ make me want to learn some sort of martial art – maybe all the martial arts – just so I can roundhouse dropkick a tree. With my head. Every day.

2008 into 2009: MiLLS

December 20th, 2008

After drumming successfully for Cable and The Lucky Nine, Richie Mills has stepped out from behind the kit to front his own band. Bloody hell, if Dave Grohl can do it with Foo Fighters, then so can MiLLS.

Hard Rock Hell II lineup finalised

July 2nd, 2008

Cancer Bats Hard Rock Hell Thrash Hits

The lineup for the second annual Hard Rock Hell, niftily sub-titled “The Dragon’s Ball”, has been finalised and it has shaped up magnificently.

The 48-hour maelstrom of rock and metal at the UK’s will take place on 5-7 December 2008 at the only rock ‘n’ roll bootcamp, located at Pontin’s, Prestatyn Sands in North Wales.

There are few things more fun that hard rocking whilst hard boozing in a Pontin’s – especially when you don’t need to worry about your parents finding out. We know this from last year’s inaugural and hugely successful HRH.

While we have the mighty Black Label Society and Thin Lizzy headlining the Classic Rock Stage, there are some very exciting developments on the Radio 1/Metal Hammer Stage as the Radio 1 Rock Show’s Daniel P Carter curates.

Carter is going to showcase some Thrash Hits .com favourites from the emerging rock scene including sets from Canadian rising stars Cancer Bats as well as Brighton heavyweights Johnny Truant and the mighty The Ghost Of A Thousand.

Tickets, including entry to the festival, accommodation and car parking, start from as little as £90 if you are prepared to share (destroy) a chalet with six other headbanging buddies. Find out more at HardRockHell.com.
