Just over two months ago I was minding my own business, scratching my balls, watching the clock count down to 27 May (Altered State release date), when Prog editor, Jerry Ewing emailed me about The Heavy Metal Truants bike ride. At first I thought it was a joke – especially coming from Jerry, who doesn’t look like he’s ever sat on a bike, let alone up for a 161-mile bike ride – but after a few days of harassment I realized it was for real, and after reading about the event and the charities it supports, I was very intrigued and decided I had to get involved.

The Defiled new promo photo 2012 Thrash Hits

We’ve been banging on about how good The Defiled are since before Thrash Hits even existed (as the poor, unfortunate souls we drink with and have to listen to our band-espousing can attest). We wish they’d hurry up and start work on the follow-up to their killer debut long-player, Grave Times, but right now they’re keeping themselves busy with a load of other projects – including the recording of a new live album. A new live album that they want you to help them with.

Live: Biffy Clyro @ London Royal Albert Hall – 23 March 2011

With their first UK festival headline slot approaching, Biffy Clyro played a one-off show in London in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust. 5,500 people? No big deal compared to a Knebworth full of people but after seeing them nearly 50 times in the past decade [yes, he worked it out and shocked himself], Thrash Hits editor, Raz popped down to Kensington Gore to see the Scottish superhouse in action.
