Thrash Hits TV: Raging Speedhorn – new album EXCLUSIVE!!1!

November 28th, 2014

Ahh, it’s like an early Christmas gift! We’ve made no secret how much we’re fanboys for Raging Speedhorn. We’ve gone on about them so much that they sent us a little video message before they head out on their first UK tour in damn-near nearly a decade kicks off next week. The whole bloody band pipes up to discuss their comeback, their upcoming tour, and – BEST OF ALL – some details about the brand new music coming from the band in 2015.

Yes, WE ARE VERY EXCITED.

Thrash Hits TV: Thy Art Is Murder vs #LinkinNARC

July 12th, 2014

Thy Art Is Murder Download Festival 2014 by Ben Gibson Thrash Hits

When we went to Download Festival 2014, we had planned on asking all the bands what they would do if Linkin Park ratted them out to the cops (not sure what we’re talking about? Here’s a link to Sublime With Rome’s version of what happened when they played a festival with Chester Bennington and co at a festival in the USA). However, we got distracted by drinking booze and watching bands and only did a handful. The best of our videos – by far – was when we caught up with our old friends CJ McMahon and Lee Stanton from mighty Australian deathcore monsters Thy Art Is Murder what they would do if Linkin Park grassed them up to the fuzz.

Thrash Hits TV: Carcass discuss having Ken Owen on backing vocals for Surgical Steel

September 17th, 2013

Carcass 2013 promo photo Thrash Hits

The new album from Carcass, the mighty Surgical Steel, is officially out this week. To mark the occasion, the guys over at Nuclear Blast have bunged us an exclusive interview clip of Jeff Walker and Bill Steer talking about what it was like to get Ken Own, the original drummer of Carcass, in to the studio to record some backing tracks for the album. FYI, newcomers, back in 1999, Ken Owen suffered from a brain haemorrhage that forced him to spent ten months in hospital, and pretty much forced him to stop drumming.

Those Finnish widdlers of all things guitar, Children of Bodom, have a new studio album coming out next month. It’s their eighth LP. Eighth! It’s called Halo Of Blood, and they’re pretty damn pleased with it. So much so that they sent us a video of frontman/guitarist Alexi Laiho and bassist/backing vocalist Henkka Seppälä telling us what their favourite individual tracks from the album are.

Live: Fall Out Boy @ London Camden Underworld – 25 February 2013

February 26th, 2013

Fall Out Boy 2013 promo photo burning records thrash hits

So Fall Out Boy are back. We queued up in Camden behind hundreds of teenage girls and dozens of confused Eskimo Callboy fans (their show was originally set to be at The Underworld) to see Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley strut their stuff again

Six things we learnt whilst screaming along to Fall Out Boy in Camden

1) Who cares that it’s only February, the award for “Most Anticipated Gig of the Year” is already pretty much sewn up. By 5 o’clock the queue is snaking around the Underworld with kids desperate to buy spares longingly shooting sideways glances at those with golden tickets to this super-intimate show. Inside the atmosphere is one of hushed excitement and tetchy nervousness. Welcome. It’s here.

LISTEN: Sucioperro – Pig Ravens

June 20th, 2012

sucioperro band promo photo 2012 thrash hits

This is an exclusive track off Scottish quintet Sucioperro’s new album Fused. The song is called ‘Pig Ravens’ and it’s a gnarled fuzzbox of dirge telling a dark and desperate story in 130 seconds. You’ll feel sad when it finishes because you’ll want to hear another song.

What does Pig Ravens mean? Tell us about the song here.

JP – “Feeding a corpse to the pigs is a way of totally disposing a body, teeth, bones, the lot. The ravens are there, silently waiting for any scraps.”

Bloodstock Open Air 2012 adds Nile and Mayhem as UK festival exclusives

Bloodstock Open Air has added Ancient Egypt-obsessed death metallers, Nile, and historically-extremely-important-although-not-really-as-good-as-they-used-to-be black metallers, Mayhem, to its 2012 line-up. And…errr…that’s about it. Both bands are making their Bloodstock debuts, and both bands are going to be UK festival exclusives for Bloodstock this year, but then again we doubt there were many other festivals fighting to be first ones to knock either band’s booking agent’s doors.

Deicide added to Bloodstock Open Air 2012 as a UK festival exclusive

January 10th, 2012

It’s as the title says – everyone’s favourite forehead-branding no-longer-quite-as-Satanic-as-they-used-to-be death metallers, Deicide, have been added to the bill of Bloodstock Open Air 2012, where they will play their only UK show of 2012. And there was us thinking this was the year V Festival would see the light and sandwich Glen Benton and co. in between Jessie J and Skrillex.
