The day all you Trent Reznor fanboys and girls has arrived – today marks the first time anyone outside of Reznor’s inner circle gets to hear something from Hesitation Marks, the forthcoming eighth studio album from Nine Inch Nails. It’s called ‘Came Back Haunted’ and it’s right after the jump.

We’re not sure why so many people were surprised when Trent Reznor announced at the start of the week that Nine Inch Nails would be going back out on the road to play some shows over the next two years. Reznor has always said that Nine Inch Nails would return, and it’s been four long years since the band last played together – a return to the music that is Reznor down to his blood-and-bones seems natural at this point.

One thing we’ve tried to do in 2012 is post a few more long-form articles, stripping away the webhit-harvesting buzzword nonsense from heavy metal’s burning issues, and concentrating on the the bigger picture that other sites are missing in amongst the hullabaloo. One such article was Tom Dare’s analysis of why Nightwish parting ways with Anette Olzon – the band’s lead vocalist since 2007 – wasn’t perhaps necessarily as big of a deal as some fans thought.

Got nothing on this weekend? Not at Warped Tour London because your music tastes are more along the lines of guys-lurking-about-in-their-basement-making-hell-noise rather than dayglo-big-fringed-pop-punk-muppets? If you’re one of the poor souls who hasn’t yet checked out this vital documentary, Vice are now showing the entire documentary in serialised format over on their website.
