In just four weeks time, arguably the “most metal” (whatever that means) of the UK summer festival season takes place: Bloodstock Open Air. To get ourselves in the mood for a weekend of wearing denim vests and drinking mead out of horn, we’ve put together a gigantic Sunday Spotify Slaylist, featuring the best of this year’s line-up.

Not much to add beyond the obvious – Bloodstock Open Air has today confirmed Accept, Fozzy and Firewind for their 2013 festival. The trio join the previously-announced Anthrax on the bill over at Catton Hall, which in 2013 takes place on the weekend of 08-11 August. Early Bird Weekend Tickets are on sale now for the bargain price of £100, so if you want to save a few quid for Bloodstock’s infamous ale bar, now would be a good time to cough up some cash.

While this is obviously patently untrue in every way (ahem), Elvenking appear to be doing everything in their power to prove this theory.

Normally we leave it up to our Deputy Editor to cobble together our Slaylists when he’s one shade or another of hungover. Not so this week – step forward Tom Dare with his Slaylist of EPIC proportions…
In a world where metal rules (“and if you don’t like it die” – Paul Baloff), one nation consistently ignored one of the finest styles of metal. That nation was the UK, and that style was power metal. One man began a quest to expose some of the ultimate greatness displayed by power metal bands.

I don’t know….you wake up all bleary-eyed from a night out on the sauce, only to find out that while you were sinking beers with your buds in some Soho whiskey pit, Ozzy Osbourne has only gone and fired Zakk Wylde from his band. Why did no-one tell us about this?
Actually, it turns out nobody thought to tell Zakk Wylde about it either. OUCH.
