There’s this weird position that Fucked Up occupy in the monder punk-rock pantheon, with their fans falling somewhere between that of punks who’ve graduated from entry-level nonsense, and hipsters looking for just a tiny taste of hardcore judos to declare as one of their own. When the band played their own show here in London – co-headlined by Titus Andronicus and supported by Metz – we sent Ollie Connors along to see how that middle ground is working out for them.

So it’d be fair to say that Thrash Hits isn’t just a fairly UK-centric kind of website most of the time, but also a fairly London-centric UK-centric kind of website a damn near awful lot of the time. Huh. We figured we ought to do something about that. Which is why we called upon our man out in the far east, Tom Gibbons, to venture out to catch Fucked UpGallows, and Beijing-based Fanzui Xiangfa when they rolled into Hong Kong. Yes, Hong Kong in the People’s Republic of China.

Lostprophets 2012 promo photo Thrash Hits

Lostprophets – one of the UK’s premier rock bands – were a bit miffed at not winning a Kerrang! Award last week and so have charged their fans with the task of buying their merch to help soothe their egos.

The problem is that said merch is emblazoned with a quickly thought out logo that is mighty similar to the Fucked Up logo. Obviously the Welsh emo legends are actually just helping out their Canadian comrades and a sizable portion of the profits will see their way over to them. Right? No? WHAT?? OK.

EP: Fucked Up – Year Of The Tiger

Year of the Tiger
Matador Records
06 February 2012

by Alex Andrews

Given that their last commitment to tape was an 82-minute ‘rock opera’, chronicling the haphazard love life of an English factory worker, you could be forgiven for thinking that Fucked Up had exhausted all channels for experimentation. Live + Photos: Shred Yr Face – The Bronx, Fucked Up & Rolo Tomassi @ Brighton Concorde – 05 March 2009

March 7th, 2009

When the amazing hardcore extravaganza, Shred Yr Face II tour hit the penultimate date at the Brighton Concorde, Andy Parker was there for Thrash Hits with his camera and notepad. He had quite a good time.

Tonight I am exhausted. Never have I felt so run ragged by an act, so to be kept on my toes by two of the US’s finest exports is a pleasure.

The Shred Yr Face II Tour finds its way to the windswept coastline stopping for chips and dohnuts at Concorde2, Brighton.
