Here There Be Monsters are on tour RIGHT BLOODY NOW

April 22nd, 2010

Okay – we kinda dropped the ball on this one. Thrash Hits-faves, Here There Be Monsters are touring the UK right now – in fact, they’re about halfway through their jaunt across the British Isles. We really ought to have brought it to your attention a bit sooner. You can see what hi-jinks they’ve been getting up to on the road so far over by checking out their tour blog c/o Black Match Records, the guys responsible for putting out the band’s rather good Inherent EP earlier this year.

So if you do happy to be lucky enough to live near one of the following shows, get your arse in gear and go check them out. If you come to the London show, we might even buy you a beer.

Genre-pigeonholes are the sad crux of the modern record reviewer. Can’t think of a decent opening gambit for your review of the latest record from Band X? Simple – just throw some half-baked tangent out there about whatever micro-niche you think you can shoehorn the band falls into. Fuck it – make up a new genre. No-one will know any different. They’ll just pretend they’ve already heard of post-swervecore just so they don’t look clueless. And it’ll piss off the shitcunt pedants on Wikipedia, at any rate.

Except that tactic won’t work for a band like Here There Be Monsters.

Thrash Hits verdict: There simply aren’t enough straight out and out metal bands around. We’ve ended up in a world of diversification and niche genres, diluting the one thing we all love, deep and dirty metal. They’re already selling out shows nationwide and with a new EP out at the end of the year, things can only get heavier.
