London is a cruel place for bands to gig. Audiences have seen it all before. They stand at the bar with their arms folded, demanding to be impressed. A Plastic Rose found that out the hard way when they came to North London, but as Gavin Lloyd observed, it didn’t dent their momentum at all.

Six things we learned while watching A Plastic Rose in London…

Sunday Slaylist: Live Evil Festival 2013

September 29th, 2013

Live Evil 2013 Thrash Hits

In keeping with our ongoing theme of Winter metal-fest themed Sunday Slaylists, we were going to put something together today to herald the impending (and quite frankly magnificent-looking) Live Evil Festival 2013. We say “were”, because yesterday while bumming around on the internet, we found out that Dylan Hughes aka A Fist In The Face Of God got there first. And made a better mix than we ever could.

Live: Turbowolf, Black Moth + Wet Nuns @ London Highbury Garage – 10 October 2012

We don’t write about every tiny band in the world in a hope to one day claiming that we wrote about them first. Take a look at our Future Hits section if you want proof. We DID however tip Turbowolf, Black Moth AND Wet Nuns, though. The Dillinger Escape Plan are coming back to London in April – and maybe a whole UK tour to boot

February 13th, 2012

They might’ve only just finished touring the UK in support of Mastodon, but it seems The Dillinger Escape Plan already look set to be making a return to our shores sooner rather than later. We’ve just spied this date – 26 April 2012 – as a scheduled Dillinger Escape Plan show over on The Highbury Garage’s website, even though there’s not been an official announcement anywhere else yet.

Tickets go on sale on 15 February, i.e., on Wednesday. You better believe we’re going to be at the head of queue. We’ll have more dates and details for you when we get ’em. Although thinking about other bands’ album release schedules, it’d make sense (and be a frickin’ KILLER line-up) if this turned out to be a dual-headliner jaunt with either Cancer Bats or Every Time I Die as opposed to just a Groezrock warm-up show….

The Month In Metal: July

July 1st, 2009

Are we really half way through 2009 already? Apparently so. Feeling confused about the six months just gone, and the six left to go? Thrash Hits is here to guide you – well, through the next four weeks, at least.

Events
For those of you lucky enought to live alongside Thrash Hits in London town, tonight sees the launch of Someone’s Yelling Fire, a new punk/hardcore/metal/screamo/emo night at the recently-reopened Highbury Garage. Get there early enough and you’ll be able to catch live sets from The Xcerts, Save Your Breath and Flood of Red. Get their later, and you get to see Thrash Hits staffers collapse at the bar following an excess of beers. Double trouble! And just a fiver to boot.
