It seems we’ve become the go-to heavy metal guys for the BBC Radio 1 Review Show. That’s kind of cool, isn’t it? We think we can get away with saying that as we’ve been asked back for the fifth time tonight, where our Deputy Editor Hugh Platt will join host Edith Bowman and fellow guest Angel Haze in talking about a whole load of fresh new music. You can listen in online using your web browser, via your digital TV (it’s on Freeview channel 700, or thereabouts) or by tuning your old fashioned analogue radio to 97-99FM at 9pm GMT. If you want to join in, just tweet in using the hashtag #r1review and give Hugh some encouragement/abuse. We’re happy with either.

It’s Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend. You knew that, right? Well, it’s that fact as to why the BBC Radio 1 Review Show are having a festival special this evening, and they’ve only gone and invited us back on to mouth off about a whole load of new tracks from the bands playing at the festivals this year. Our Deputy Editor, Hugh Platt, is back on as a guest of Edith Bowman alongside Mallory Knox’s Sam Douglas – tune your radio (or more likely, your web browser) in to Radio 1 at 9pm BST to hear his mouth flapping and his opinions leak out all over the airwaves.

BBC Radio 1 are currently in the middle of another week of Radio 1 Rocks, where the station celebrates rock with a week of special programming. That means they’re also having another rock edition of their BBC Radio 1 Review Show, and once again they asked Thrash Hits to step up and act as one of their guest pundits.

Download Festival 2013 is just around the corner, so for this week’s podcast, Raz and Hugh got together to talk about the bands they’re looking forward to, the worst clashes on the bill, the bits of the festival we’re dreading, and about what Thrash Hits is going to be doing this year at Donington Park: HINT: It’s going to be awesome.

In case you haven’t noticed, WE RELAUNCHED THRASH HITS. This week on the podcast, Raz and Hugh talk through the fancy new changes that we’ve made to the site (we’re pretty proud of it FYI), as well as giving the lowdown on our team-up with Songkick Detour (help us bring American Nightmare, SikTh, and a load of other awesome bands to London!), as well as talking about the only news story that’s mattered over the last week – Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying being arrested and charged with attempting to hire a hitman to murder his estranged wife.
