Hydra Head Records R.I.P 2 Thrash Hits

As we reported on Tuesday, Hydra Heads Records bossman Aaron Turner announced this week that the label was to effectively close, with the label to transform little more than an administrative arm for the label’s existing catalogue before the year is out. This news was understandably greeted with howls of despair from all corners of the metal world, given the incredible pedigree of artists that Hydra Head has had through its doors over the last two decades.

The new Cave In album, White Silence can’t come soon enough

It’s been over five and a half years since Cave In released their last album, Perfect Pitch Black but with a three-year hiatus and an EP since then, their fifth album, White Silence cannot come soon enough. It’s released on 24 May 2011 via Hydra Head Records. Cave In have not released a bad album or EP. It’s unlikely that this pattern will change.

Torche have reached that level of critical acclaim now where they have been labeled to high heaven. The Floridian quartet have been labeled as everything from ‘stoner pop’ to ‘thunder rock’ to ‘doom pop’, according to Wikipedia.
