It must be somewhat a double edged sword to be labelled as a band with “potential”. On the one hand it’s great that people think your band could be something special, yet at the same point this potential has to be realised or it won’t be long before people’s interest dwindles. Case in point: The Defiled.

Album: Job For A Cowboy – Demonocracy

Job For A Cowboy have had something of a rough ride from Thrash Hits for a couple of years. Hugh wasn’t a fan of last album Ruination, and I gave the last EP Gloom a minor kicking. That might make you think they’re a band we’ve got something against. We don’t – far from it. I still fucking love debut album Genesis, and want to see a clearly talented young death metal band succeed. Does new album Demonocracy see the band get back on track?

2008 into 2009: Order of Ennead

December 21st, 2008

Floridian extreme metallers Order Of Ennead might be a side project but with an album in the can, they’re already making waves. We spoke to bassist, Scott Patrick (Resurrection) and guitarist, Kevin Quirion (Council Of The Fallen).

What was your highlight of 2008?
S: Getting Order Of Ennead up and running.
K: It was a great year. We signed to Earache in May, recorded our debut at Audio Hammer in June. We got to share the stage with Deicide, Hate Eternal, Municipal Waste and Adrift. And our second album is already in the demoing stages, so we were very productive this year.

What is your funniest tour story of 2008?
K: Scott, while in Italy, was so smashed. He just laid his backpack down and then immediately started asking where it was. Later he passed out and Glen Benton started taking pics of him. The guy looked like a corpse he was so out of it. Jack Owen is hilarious as well.
