Kerrang! Tour 2014 Thrash Hits

Sometimes, things go wrong. Things went wrong when we sent our man in Liverpool, Matt Thomas, along to photograph the Limp Bizkit-headlined Kerrang! Tour 2014. Some wires got crossed somewhere, and whole everyone else in Liverpool with a camera was allowed into the photopit to snap Fred Durst and co., we were barred and only allowed to snap the support acts – Crossfaith, Nekrogoblikon and Baby Godzilla.

2013 thrash hits favourite gigs of the year

Part and parcel of being opinionated music lovers is that we go and experience lots of music in its natural habitat – on a stage – and then we decide how good it was. Some spectacles are so powerful that they evoke emotions strong enough to form memories through the drunkenness. It’s a rarity but that’s why some here have to name several before deciding upon their Favourite Gig of 2013. There is zero reason for you to be reading this but if you’ve read this far, you’ll get at least halfway down before clicking the cross.

Nu Metalcore is definitely happening. Why?

September 19th, 2013

There’s a new (nu?) trend afoot in the world of emerging metalcore bands and that trend is similar in its makeup to nu metal when it came out. I grew up during nu metal’s heyday and the likes of Limp Bizkit and Slipknot went a long way towards shaping my taste in music and making me the metal-loving scamp I am today. Nu metal was huge and had a mainstream crossover appeal that hasn’t been seen since in terms of heavy music.

Limp Bizkit by Ben Gibson Thrash Hits

There’s still very little news regarding the forthcoming new Limp Bizkit album. With this in mind, let’s ponder who else from Lil Wayne’s YMCMB family could make an appearance on the album…

Wes Borland is a man of many faces. He’s also a man of many bands. Everyone knows him for playing guitar in Limp Bizkit but he’s been in half a dozen others. Half a dozen, eh? Sounds like perfect fodder for a Top 6, so we asked him to pick his favourite song from each of them. The problem is that he’s played in more than six bands so this list doesn’t even include Big Dumb Face.

You’ll know Wes Borland from playing guitar in Limp Bizkit. You’ll know him from being that big, creepy body-painted guy onstage next to the red-hatted Fred Durst. You’ll know that he quit Limp Bizkit because he disliked what he was doing – it wasn’t fulfilling him creatively. Black Light Burns is what he does for creativity. His avant garde industrial other band is in the UK this week, promoting a brand new concept album, Lotus Island, released just six months after their last album.
