Future Hits 074: Collapse

Collapse
From: London, UK
Lazy Equation: Machine Head x The Haunted + Lamb Of God

Thrash Hits Verdict:
For a band so early in their career, Collapse have already defined the key elements to their sound – fusing the gallop of European melodic death with the down-tuned riffage of Bay Area thrash. Having packed out and torn apart the Sophie Lancaster Stage at Bloodstock 2010, Collapse have all the potential to become one of the rising stars of the British metal scene.

Future Hits 050: EastStrikeWest

May 19th, 2010

From: Essex-ish, UK
Sounds like: Epic indie rock with layered strings and soaring vocals.
Myspace: MySpace.com/EastStrikeWestBand

Thrash Hits verdict: Embraced by the Yorkshire label that launched Bring Me The Horizon as one of their less heavy bands, we thought there must be something about EastStrikeWest’s soaring, epic, stringed rock that piqued interests. Basically, it’s the bits of music xhardcorex bands do when they want to be soaring and epic and cool, just all the time. The result is that it sounds massive. Job done.

Future Hits 040: Chambers

August 17th, 2009

Having played their second ever show in a sweatpit basement with Gallows in last month, we thought it might be nice to have a chat with the chaps from monstrous, new New Jersey hardcore mob, Chambers. They’re pretty special.

From: New Jersey, USA
Sounds like: Gallows, The Ghost Of A Thousand, hardcore rock ‘n’ roll
Website: www.myspace.com/ChambersRock

Thrash Hits verdict: It’s rare that you instantly ‘get’ a band – especially so early on in their career but a couple of plays on their MySpace and we were hooked on their refreshingly beefy take on a now well-thumbed blueprint. The next step is getting their sweaty arses over to this side of the pond for some mad touring.

Future Hits 038: Warpath

July 6th, 2009

The pureblood thrash of Warpath has already won them the top spot of Terrorizer Magazine‘s latest annual readers’ poll. That’s a mark of a band destined for Future Hits right there – and vocalist/rhythm guitarist Richard Goss, and lead guitarist Pete Hawthorne, both agree.

From: Cardiff, UK
Sounds like: Megadeth, Testment, fours guys who take absolutely no shit from anyone.
Website: www.MySpace.com/WarpathUK

Thrash Hits verdict: Warpath don’t give two tugs of a dead dog’s cock about fad-thrash, ironic nostalgia, or most of the people of Swansea. What they do care about are all the things that made thrash great in the first place – riffs so fast they blur at the edges, snarling vocals that seethe with raw aggression, and the righteous banging of heads.

Future Hits 029: Steadlür

May 18th, 2009

We can count on one hand the number of times Roadrunner Records has got it wrong when it comes to signing bands. That’s why we caught up with Philip Steadlür, lead singer and guitarist of American newcomers Steadlür for a chat

From: Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Sounds like: Skid Row, Motley Crue, Madina Lake
Website: www.MySpace.com/Steadlür

Thrash Hits verdict: We reckon that with their big choruses, classic guitar licks and clear ambition these boys are going to pick up a few fans on this trip to the UK and they’re going to do their damnedest to keep hold of every one of them. And it helps they’re dead sexy. It helps us, anyway. Errr…

In Flames cancel UK & Ireland tourdates

Swedish metal gurus In Flames have been forced to cancel their upcoming April/May tourdates for the UK and Ireland with Cancer Bats.

UPDATE! Cancer Bats are still intending on coming over here and playing some shows though. We’re guessing it’s because their flights are booked and their lives have been put on hold, they may as well get over here and cause some carnage!
