What’s going on? The world’s finest alternative pop star, Avril Lavigne and the world’s finest Nickelback singer, Chad Kroeger have been boning hard enough and frequently enough that they want to keep doing it forever and ever. They’re getting married.

What you see above is what their children will look like. It’s not an artist’s impression. It’s a fact. Notice how both images look like Nic Cage.

Nickelback announce new 2009 UK tour

December 2nd, 2008

Nickelback Chad Kroeger Line Nation Roadrunner Records Thrash Hits

Nickelback used to be that band with that song about ‘How You Remind Me’ or whatever, but now they’re “That Rockstar band… you know the one…”.

Regardless, with radio hits-aplenty the Canadian megastars are hitting the arenas of the UK once again with their massive songs, pyrotechnics and some cannons that shoots merchandise at their fans, no doubt.

Kid Rock gives away free download

July 21st, 2008

Kid Rock Thrash Hits Free Download All Summer Long Bawitdaba

Whilst he’s still riding the wave of the surprise success of his recent return single, ‘All Summer Long’, Kid Rock is giving his loyal fans a free download of his 1999 single, ‘Bawitdaba’.

Click here to sign your life away in return for a song that is nearly 10 years old. It is a quality tune, though.

‘Bawitdaba’ was taken from Kid Rock’s breakthrough album, Devil Without A Cause which went 11 times Platinum in America which makes it only one of only two hugely successful albums which have been certified as Diamond with a parental advisory sticker on it. Edgy.

‘All Summer Long’ recently charted at #6 in the UK Singles Charts and is looking like “doing a Nickelback“, in terms of having a hit single anyway. That’s even after Kid Rock cancelled his Download Festival 2008 appearance due to sickness.

Nickelback sign $70 million deal

July 10th, 2008

Nickelback Chad Kroeger Line Nation Roadrunner Records Thrash Hits

Nickelback definitely want to be rockstars and Live Nation are going to let them – to the tune of $70 million (roughly £35 million).

Sadly, the mega-selling Canadians still have to release two albums on their current label, Roadrunner Records so they won’t be joining their new home until 2010. Other artists on Live Nation include Madonna, Jay-Z and U2. Nickelback really are that big.

The new deal is not just limited to releasing three albums but also includes tour profits, merchandise sales, broadcast rights and fan club membership fees. Live Nation clearly want a slice of every pie around.

It’s not that Nickelback were doing badly. ‘Rockstar’ has been in the UK Singles Chart for nine months now and has been named the second biggest-selling single of 2008 (after Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’, which was covered by both Biffy Clyro and Plain White T’s). And they’re going on a massive arena tour this autumn.

With all that cash in their pockets, they’ll definitely be able to afford that bathroom they want to play baseball in, with that king size tub that can fit ten people in. That tub will be useful for the baseball team after the game. It all makes sense.

Alternatively, Chad Kroeger might want to spend his share of the money on a chauffeur after being convicted of drink-driving earlier this year. Whoops. I’m sure he’s not that bothered right now.

New tours and releases roundup – 26 June 2008

A whole bunch of new albums have been announced these past few days. The most exciting has to be Trvium’s fourth full-length effort, Shogun. Unleashed on 29 September 2008 through Roadrunner Records ahead of their co-headline Unholy Alliance tour with Slayer, early reports suggest that they’re back to actually sounding like Trivium and that it’s rather a good album.

Undoubtedly less exciting but definitely more unit-shifting is the announcement that dour, 12 million-selling alt-metallers Staind have joined the Roadrunner stable. Their sixth album, The Illusion Of Progress is released on 8 September 2008, just before they tour arenas with their new labelmates, Nickelback (inexplicably pictured above).

The best tour that we’ve heard about has Australian metalcore masters Parkway Drive and Boston legends Unearth headlining it this November. The Never Say Die Tour also has Architects, Protest The Hero, Whitechapel and Carnifex frequenting some odd parts of the country.
