In addition to penning a monthly black metal column for Thrash Hits, writing reviews and features for Metal Hammer, promoting extreme metal shows, oh, and having a day job, Cheryl Carter also manages one-man black metal act Caïna. With the sixth full-length Caïna album, Setter of Unseen Snares, being released this month, we figured now was as good a time as any to make use of our publisher’s leverage to get Cheryl to give us the inside scoop on the story of what looks likely to be one of 2015’s most interesting extreme records. Take it away, Cheryl…

Last week we kicked off our new series of genre-specific columns with Prog, and this week we’re turning our attention to things a little nastier. We’ve asked Cheryl Carter to give us her insight to the past month (well, month and a bit – we’re just getting into the swing of this whole “regular schedule” thing, after all) in Black Metal…

Vans Warped Tour UK first promo pic Thrash Hits

Well, this is a turn up for the books – the Vans Warped Tour is going to be coming to the UK after nearly a decade and a half of absence. Even though at this stage there’s no information concrete information regarding the line-up, ticket price, exact date beyond “November” or venue beyond “it’s in London”, the fact that it’s coming here at all is still something of a surprise.

When Slayer announced earlier this week their pretty-much annual Autumn tour of the UK, we were pleased, though not exactly surprised. We’re sure there are plenty of you are looking forward to buying tickets for it when they go on sale on Friday.

Unless of course you make use the cheeky pre-sale link we stumbled upon this morning to buy them today.

August 26th, 2009

Gay For Johnny Depp promo photo Thrash Hits

There’s not much to be excited about when it comes to Winter. Sure, there’s Christmas, and Hallowe’en, and Guy Fawkes, but those are just little pinpricks of fun amongst months and months of bad weather, sour faces, long nights and pretty girls wearing giant fucking coats all the time.

So we guess it’s a pretty good job the awesome Gay For Johnny Depp are coming back to the UK this Winter to perk us all up, ain’t it?

New gigs and tours roundup – 12 June 2008

Bullet For My Valentine

The enormous autumn metal tours have started rolling in. This week we’ve heard news about a couple of consortiums making their way across the Atlantic – one rather massive and one not so – as well as a couple of other big hitters hitting the UK from not quite as far away.

The hot ticket this autumn will be the painfully metal Unholy Alliance. 2006’s European leg had Slayer, In Flames, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom and Thine Eyes Bleed making your ears implode.

This year’s thrash-fest will see Slayer joined by co-headliners Trivium with prog-metal masters Mastodon as the first announced special guests. The final support act is to be confirmed shortly.
