Slipknot All Hope Is Gone Masks Thrash Hits

After the filming for the video to ‘Pyschosocial’ being delayed by the perpetually clumsy DJ Sid Wilson banging his head against a door (accidentally), everyone was a bit worried. You’ll be happy to know the video has finally been released.

‘Pyschosocial’ was released on 7 July 2008 as the first proper single from their forthcoming fourth album, All Hope Is Gone which, in turn, will be released on 25 August 2008.

Squealing guitars, the new masks are probably the scariest so far, the purging of the Purgatory Masks, flames, water and crumbling stuff. Surely this video has got it all! What do you think about that?

Behind The Hits 001: Joel McIver

July 14th, 2008

After releasing a best-selling tome on Metallica in 2004, Joel McIver (pictured) seems to have given Slayer the same treatment this year. Joe Shooman chats to the metal guru about what he’s seen along the way.

First time you discovered the band (as a fan and as a journalist)?
I didn’t actually pick up on Slayer until South Of Heaven in 1988, but then quickly went back to their previous stuff and acquainted myself. I’d heard so much about Reign In Blood that when I finally got to hear it, it felt like a major occurrence in my life – a door that I was about to walk through that couldn’t be closed again!

Slipknot DJ breaks heels, everyone writes about it

July 14th, 2008

Slipknot Purgatory Masks Thrash Hits

DJ Sid Wilson of Slipknot has broken both of his heels during the very first show on the Mayhem Festival tour on July 9 in Auburn, Washington.

Firstly, that sounds awfully painful. Secondly, he has to wear plaster casts on both his legs. Thirdly and most amazingly, however, Wilson or #0, to give his stagename, has vowed to complete the tour from a wheelchair.

One would presume he won’t be doing any jumps from there, but you never know with the man casually referred to as Psychosocial Sid. He’s being called that because Slipknot’s latest single was called ‘Psychosocial’. It’s genius.

The filming of the video to ‘Pyschosocial’ was delayed because Wilson knocked himself out on a door at home. Interestingly, the video will be released on Friday, 18 July 2008. What great timing.

Have a look at this photo of Sid Wilson in his new Slipknot mask. Do you reckon he looks like a camp robot trapped in a tea garden? He can’t hurt himself in there can he? They probably don’t have wheelchair access either though.
