Oh look. Another reunited band from the 1990s. The difference with this one is that Vision of Disorder have been back for a few years now, their popularity hasn’t had a mysterious retrospective inflation (they’re playing the 500-capacity Underworld in London, Refused played the 2500-capacity Forum) and aren’t one of those bands all of their successors in the hardcore scene name-check in every interview, despite how influential they’ve actually been. Which is daft, because VoD were fucking great first time around, and they’ve come back with an arse-booting record.

It’s called Fyf Fest and it features a number of these reunited bands.

Thrash Hits Podcast 1

Yep, it’s back – it’s time for episode 002 of the Thrash Hits podcast. We would’ve had it up yesterday, but iTunes was breaking our balls. Yeah, the Swedish punk legends were criminally under-appreciated back in the last century. They’re finally on the pedestal they deserve to be on these days so, ahead of their Main Stage appearance at Download Festival 2012, let’s have a look at how good their New York City return was.

Six things we learned when we saw Refused play in NYC for the first time in over a decade

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the first Download Festival announcement following the cancellation of their chief 2012 rival has at least one major coup picked from Sonisphere’s carcass – Refused are now going to be making their only UK festival appearance of 2012 at Download Festival. They’re just one of the thirteen new acts that the festival announced today.

Sunday Slaylist: Sonisphere 2012 – What Might’ve Been

Queen Brian May Adam Lambert CANCELLED Thrash Hits

There’s not denying it – for UK rock fans, the cancellation of Sonisphere 2012 was the biggest news story this week. Unless something incredibly dramatic happens later this year, we’d put good money on it being one of – if not the – biggest news story of the entire year. It’s because it’s such a momentous news event that we’re dedicating this week’s Sunday Slaylist to the acts that were supposed to be performing at Knebworth this Summer…only with an extra little twist….

Speculating Sonisphere 2012 Slaylist Thrash Hits

Well, this week Sonisphere finally broke their silence and announced some of the bands that will be playing their Spanish and Finnish festivals this year. As yet there’s still no names for Knebworth, and as Metal Hammer noted, some of the names that are playing in Madrid and Helsinki are playing Download in the UK, and therefore seem highly unlikely to make the UK edition of Sonisphere. But it got us thinking – what bands could be playing at Knebworth this year?
